Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our handcrafted lampwork jewelry, shipping, classes, and more.
What is lampwork glass beadmaking?
Lampwork is an ancient glass beadmaking technique dating back to the 5th century. Using a torch flame, glass rods are heated and carefully shaped around a metal mandrel to create unique beads. Each bead is then annealed (slowly cooled) in a kiln to ensure strength and durability. Every bead is handmade, so no two are ever exactly alike.
Are your jewelry pieces truly one-of-a-kind?
Yes! Every piece of Ms Mussy Jewels jewelry is handcrafted in our Toronto studio. Because each lampwork bead is shaped by hand in the flame, natural variations in color, pattern, and form make every piece unique. You are wearing a genuine one-of-a-kind work of art.
How do I care for my lampwork jewelry?
Lampwork glass beads are durable but should be treated with care. Avoid dropping them on hard surfaces, as glass can chip or crack on impact. Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or exercising. Store pieces individually in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box to prevent scratching. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth.
Do you offer custom or personalized jewelry?
Absolutely! We love creating custom pieces. Whether you have a specific color palette, style, or occasion in mind, we can design something just for you. Custom orders typically take 2-4 weeks depending on complexity. Contact us at hello@msmussyjewels.com to discuss your vision.

Do you offer lampwork beadmaking classes?
Yes! We offer hands-on lampwork beadmaking workshops for all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced artists. Classes are held in our Toronto studio and cover everything from basic bead shaping to advanced techniques like floral implosions and sculptural beads. Visit our Classes page to see upcoming workshops and book your spot.
Do I need any experience to take a class?
Not at all! Our beginner classes are designed for people with zero experience. We provide all materials and equipment, and you will receive hands-on guidance throughout the session. By the end of the class, you will have created your own lampwork beads to take home.
Can I buy individual beads for my own jewelry projects?
Yes! In addition to finished jewelry, we sell individual lampwork beads and bead sets perfect for fellow jewelry makers and crafters. Browse our Beads collection to find unique focal beads, matched sets, and specialty shapes for your projects.
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
We do work with select retailers and fellow artisans on wholesale orders. Minimum order quantities and pricing vary by product. Please contact us at hello@msmussyjewels.com with details about your business and the products you are interested in, and we will be happy to discuss options.

Are lampwork beads safe to wear?
Yes, lampwork glass beads are completely safe to wear. They are made from non-toxic glass rods and are kiln-annealed to ensure structural integrity. The beads are smooth, hypoallergenic, and comfortable against the skin. We use high-quality sterling silver, gold-filled, or stainless steel findings in our finished jewelry.
