The Artist
Meet Ms Mussy
For over 15 years, I've been captivated by the ancient art of lampwork glass beadmaking. What began as a fascination with the dance of fire and glass has blossomed into a lifelong passion and artistic journey.
Working from my Toronto studio, I create each bead by hand using traditional lampworking techniques combined with contemporary design. Every piece tells a story, capturing light, color, and movement in molten glass.
My work is inspired by nature, Caribbean heritage, and the beautiful imperfections that make handmade art truly special. No two beads are ever exactly alike—and that's the magic.
The Art of Lampwork
Lampwork beadmaking is an ancient craft dating back to 5th century Venice. Using a torch flame (historically an oil lamp, hence "lampwork"), glass rods are heated and shaped around a metal mandrel to create beautiful beads.
Each bead goes through a careful annealing process to ensure durability, then is cleaned and inspected before becoming part of a finished jewelry piece or being offered individually to fellow artisans.
